About Peter
There’s something quietly humbling about viewing the world from above. The moment the wheels lift off and the landscape begins to unfold below, you realise how much of Australia remains untouched, raw and breathtakingly beautiful. For me, flying has never just been about getting from one place to another — it’s always been about perspective.
As a professional photographer and commercial pilot, I’ve been fortunate to merge my two lifelong passions: aviation and photography. With over 40 years of flying experience and countless hours behind the controls of my Cessna Cardinal 177RG, I’ve journeyed to Australia’s most remote corners. The aircraft’s high-wing design and clean, strut-free lines make it an ideal platform for aerial photography — allowing me to capture unspoiled views of the landscape below.
From the ochre-hued heart of the outback to snow-capped peaks, crystalline reefs, vast salt lakes, and ancient flood plains, the diversity of this country is nothing short of astonishing. These sights — seen from thousands of feet above — reveal the abstract beauty of nature: textures, symmetry, and colours often missed from the ground.
But beyond the visual spectacle, what compels me to keep flying and photographing is the story behind the image. Each photograph is more than a picture — it's a moment in time, a fragment of Australia’s vast and layered narrative. These are places shaped over millennia, scarred by weather and time, and still home to the original custodians of the land. From remote cattle stations to desert communities, I’ve met people whose connection to country spans generations, their stories echoing the endurance and richness of the land itself.
My fine art photography is a celebration of these elements — the fragile, the powerful, and the poetic — rendered in large-format works designed to enhance modern interiors. Printed with meticulous care, each piece captures fine details and textures that bring the wild into your space, creating a bridge between art and environment.
Today, these artworks live in homes, offices, and curated spaces across Australia. They offer not just decoration, but presence. A sense of scale. A reminder of not only the grandeur but also the fragility of the landscape and the need to understand we are all responsible for its survival.
In a world that often moves too fast, these images invite you to pause — to see, to feel, and to connect.
